Mike Kimmins, BSc, RPP, MCIM, MAPM
Mike
is an experienced project management practitioner with particular expertise in applying project methods including SCRUM, PRINCE2™ and MSP, in benefits realisation, contract management and business change and process reengineering environments. He is also one of the first people in the UK to have been designated an APM Registered Project Professional.
Mike has worked both within the public training programme and in-house training
for clients in a variety of sectors (including a roll-out of a project methodology for a major defence contractor).
Mike has an Honours degree in Biochemistry and
a Business Diploma from INSEAD. He is also a full Member of the Association for Project Management with APMP and APM Practitioner qualifications (which he also assesses) and is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, with a Professional Diploma in Marketing. Mike is an approved PRINCE2™ trainer and is a registered PRINCE2™ Practitioner and holds the ISEB Certificate in Project Management for Information Systems and was the eighth person in the UK to obtain the Management of Risk Practitioner qualification.
Prior
to starting training and consultancy, Mike spent over 20 years as subcontracting project manager, working internationally
in IT and Business Change projects and programmes and 5 years as a consultant and project auditor. As a project and programme
manager he specialises in high demand high availability IT systems, integrating multi-supplier solutions. In this capacity
he has developed systems related to underwater seismic data capture, marine engine test bed systems, global booking and ticketing
systems, and banking data centre migrations and producing complete retail and commercial banking applications for two of the
largest global banks. As well as introducing supply chain solutions to white goods and pharmaceutical manufacturers and introducing
major cultural changes in a number of different organisations.
As a consultant Mike has worked with the largest outsourcing,
IT systems, consumer electronics and telecommunications groups, several major charities and NGO’s to develop, implement
and embed appropriate projects methods to those organisations. These were often global roll-outs, usually to involving in
excess of 1000 project related managers. As a project auditor he has worked with Defence, IOC, UK and other European governments
to improve their project delivery.
